7. Participatory monitoring and evaluation
Completion requirements
The following is a typical chart reflecting a process of participatory monitoring and evaluation. Here each citizen scientist reports back on progress or lack thereof in the important work that they are doing. Note the emoticons depicting whether the citizen scientist is happy or not with a particular aspect of their work. Here we show, as an example, the reflections of four citizen scientists. Importantly, the questions have been designed by the citizen scientists themselves and as such as the process is participatory and the results can be meaningfully shared with the citizen scientists themselves, but also with the research team, government, policy makers and planners.
