Completion requirements
Take a look at the stats below relating to SDG 6 and the critical importance of clean water and sanitation
These stats are critical when considering SDG 6 but also the other SDGs – in particular, SDG 5 on gender equality and SDG 10 on equality. This is pertinent when you look at the image below of spillage in a township presenting a health crisis because of sewage contamination. It is women who bear the brunt of disease and concern for the health and safety of their household members – especially their children. This image also represents the historical legacy of apartheid in South Africa where townships were marginalised and where, still today, the previously disadvantaged continue to be disadvantaged.
