6. Graphic facilitation
The following tool – known as graphic facilitation captures the voice of citizen scientists – instead of having a workshop report that is inaccessible and sits on an office or library shelf, this creative reporting methodology provides an opportunity to capture the voices of stakeholders meaningfully. See these two story boards (graphic facilitation) below that vividly capture information that the citizen scientists are articulating in a visually accessible way. Take a moment to look at the images and words on the two story boards presented here. The first story board ‘Life as a River’ picks up on the many themes that emerged in stakeholder workshops.
This second story board also depicts the many voices that resonated during the stakeholder workshops – note the words at the bottom of the story board ‘diamonds on the soles of their feet’ that reflects on the idea of value and worthiness from CS contributions to science in a particular context (see Goldin et al. 2021 for a more detailed rendering of the idea of diamonds on the soles of their feet).
