Honest disclosure and verification, validation and visibility of data
Completion requirements
Citizen Science data requires verification, validation and visibility of data. If we are to have research integrity it means that as scientists working in our various disciplines, we present doubts and contradictions and also make mention of statistical uncertainty of research results and margins of error. Although we believe that data collected by citizen scientists are every bit as valid as data collected by professional scientists/researchers, verification, validation and visibility of data becomes particularly pertinent for citizen science where error rates may be higher or data quality may be questioned by external audiences (Goldin et al. 2021).
