Wrap up and an inspiration (optional)
The examples we have seen show how citizen science implements open science processes. These processes may include collaboration that is equitable, inclusive, and expanding engagement with science to different parts of society. These processes are made possible by, and are complementary with, open science outputs such as data, software, hardware, and various media published under open licenses.
The following is an inspiring 18-minute documentary about citizen science. Titled “Open Source Stories: The Science of Collective Discovery”, this film uses citizen science projects such as Public Lab, UPROSE, and HabitatMap to demonstrate the topics covered throughout this course [1]. Viewing it is optional, but highly recommended.
