Equality and inclusion are valued in citizen science, and problems with it in science provide relatable examples to understand the motivations for open science. We have just looked at how the nature of doing science, where we build on what came before and should make our work similarly accessible, is an ethical imperative for doing open science. In addition to that, there are many extrinsic motivators. Here, we will consider two examples related to equality and inclusion.
