Sharing Data
In this video, you heard about how some of the Citizen Observatories in WeObserve shared their data using platforms such as the LandSense Engagement Platform. This contains all the data from the various campaigns that have been run with Geo-Wiki, an older land cover/land use crowdsourcing platform. It also includes data collected through LandSense campaigns, such as data on green space quality in Vienna and Amsterdam, and data on habitat threats found in Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Spain and Indonesia.
The platform allows users to visualise the data on a map or download the data for further analysis. The Observatories have also written “application programming interfaces - APIs - that allow any application to use the data. APIs enable projects to share their data more widely for research, policy or service purposes. Check out LandSense for some examples!
