The Basics - an overview
The basics of the legal obligations of an unpaid volunteer may be summarized in three main point
b. The citizen scientist should respect the good reputation of the project officers, project sponsors and the other volunteers
c. The organization is responsible for the actions of the citizen scientists in the project, therefore the citizen scientist should follow closely the instructions provided by the organization
As a volunteer the liability of a person is strictly limited to the amount of damages that have actually been caused directly by the individual and usually any scale-up effect is being attributed to the organization.
In any event, understanding one's obligations is key to compliance. In this module we hope to provide that basic understanding.
